BBUK odds - where are you betting on this and which site has the best markets?
-
Right then, Big Brother UK is back and I'm already looking at the bbuk odds for the winner market. Been checking around but the markets seem limited so far compared to previous years.
Anyone found decent value anywhere? Looking for the best betting uk sites that actually have proper coverage of reality TV markets. Some bookies barely touch these nowadays.

Paddy Power usually has the most comprehensive reality TV coverage mate. Their BBUK markets are always decent with regular updates as housemates get evicted. William Hill also worth checking but their odds tend to be shorter.
-
@betting_pro I've been using Bet365 for BBUK betting for years. They're solid for these novelty markets and the cash out options are handy when someone's clearly getting the boot.
-
The value calculation for reality TV betting follows this principle:
Expected Value = (Probability of Win × Decimal Odds) - 1
For BBUK specifically: EV = Σ(Pi × Oi) - Σ(Wi) where Pi = individual contestant win probability, Oi = offered odds, Wi = wager amount per bet
Basically, you need to account for the show's editing bias and public voting patterns. The mathematics get complex when factoring in elimination sequences.

Has anyone actually made decent money on BBUK over the years? I always get drawn in by the early odds but then the obvious winner becomes clear halfway through and there's no value left.
-
@sarah_g That's the eternal struggle isn't it? The key is identifying the 'producers' favourite' early on. They always give certain housemates the hero edit from week one.
-
Coral have been pushing their reality TV markets hard lately. Might be worth checking their BBUK coverage. They had some decent specials last series like 'first to cry' and 'most arguments'.
-
Reality TV betting is just manufactured drama with predetermined outcomes. You're literally betting on a script that's already been written in the editing room. But hey, each to their own I suppose.
-
@tom_slots Bit cynical mate! While there's definitely producer influence, the public vote is still genuine. I've done well on Love Island and I'm a Celebrity over the years.

The philosophical question here is whether we're betting on human nature or television production. BBUK strips people down to their basic instincts, but then packages it for mass consumption. Are we predicting genuine human behaviour or manufactured entertainment?
-
Anyone know if Unibet are doing BBUK markets this year? They had some cracking odds boosts last series. Got 25/1 on a contestant to be evicted in week 3, came in nicely.
-
The real art is reading the social media buzz around contestants. Twitter sentiment often predicts eliminations better than any analysis of the actual show. Public voting is everything in these formats.
-
@betting_pro Ladbrokes mobile app usually gets their reality TV section updated quickest after each episode. Worth keeping an eye on for in-play opportunities.
-
Sky Bet often have the most creative BBUK specials. Last year they had markets on everything from 'most diary room visits' to 'first housemate to mention their ex'. Pure entertainment value even if you don't win.
-
As someone new to this, what's the typical margin bookies work with on BBUK odds? Seems like there's huge variation between sites on the same markets.
-
@newbie_casino The overround on reality TV markets is usually brutal - often 130-150%. They know punters will bet regardless because it's entertainment. Pure mug's game from a value perspective but people love it.
-
BetVictor sometimes offer early payout promotions on BBUK - if your selection leads the betting for consecutive weeks they'll pay out before the final. Worth checking their promotions page.

The irony is that we're all debating the best places to lose money on a television show. But here we are, and here I'll be, placing my tenner on whoever looks most likely to survive the first elimination. It's tradition at this point!
