Is Lottoland legit in the UK? I won £200 and they're making it hard to withdraw
-
Right, so I've been using Lottoland for a few months now and finally hit a decent win of £200 on one of their scratch cards. But now they're asking for all sorts of documents and it's been 3 weeks since I requested the withdrawal.
I've seen mixed lottoland uk reviews online and I'm starting to worry this might be a scam. Anyone else had issues with them? Are they actually regulated here?
Really kicking myself for not sticking to the National Lottery now...
-
Lottoland is licensed by the UKGC mate, so they're legit. But yeah, they're notorious for making withdrawals a right pain. Had similar issues myself with a £350 win last year - took nearly 6 weeks to get my money.
-
@lucy_wins What documents are they asking for exactly? Usually it's just ID and proof of address, but some operators go overboard with their KYC checks.
-
The whole lottery betting model is dodgy if you ask me. You're not actually buying lottery tickets, you're betting on the outcome. Here's the mathematical reality:
If p = probability of winning the actual lottery, and b = bookmaker's margin, then your expected return = p × (1-b) × prize_amount - stake
For EuroMillions: p ≈ 1/139,838,160, so even with their "same odds" claim, they're taking a cut somewhere. The house edge is built into the payout structure or withdrawal terms.
Stick to actual lotteries or proper UKGC casinos like Bet365.

@ukgambler99 They want passport, utility bill, bank statement, AND a selfie holding my ID. Seems excessive for £200?
@casino_dan That's mental when you put it like that. Makes me feel proper mugged off.

Lottoland are cowboys. I've been through this exact same runaround. They'll eventually pay but they make it as difficult as possible hoping you'll give up.
Meanwhile, is lottogo legit uk? Seen them advertising lately and wondering if they're any better than Lottoland.
-
@withdrawal_king LottoGo is owned by the same group that runs Betfred, so they're decent. But honestly, for the best online lottery uk experience, just stick with Camelot's official site or try the scratch cards on Paddy Power.
-
Here's my experience with different lottery platforms:
Platform Withdrawal Time Document Requirements Customer Service Overall Rating National Lottery 3-5 days Minimal Good 9/10 Lottoland 2-6 weeks Excessive Poor 4/10 LottoGo 5-10 days Standard Average 6/10 Paddy Power Lotto 1-3 days Standard Excellent 8/10 Lottoland are definitely the worst I've dealt with.
-
The irony is that Lottoland spend millions on TV adverts but can't be arsed to hire proper customer service staff. Classic case of style over substance.
-
@lucy_wins Have you tried escalating to their complaints team? Sometimes mentioning the UKGC or threatening to report them speeds things up. Got my £180 withdrawal approved within 48 hours after I dropped the regulator's name.

Philosophy time: Why do we put ourselves through this aggravation for what amounts to pocket change? £200 is nice but the stress and time wasted chasing it probably isn't worth it.
That said, it's the principle of the matter. They owe you that money @lucy_wins

Lottoland's business model relies on people getting frustrated and walking away from smaller wins. It's calculated - they know most people won't fight over £50-£300.
For what it's worth, their scratch cards have decent RTP (around 95%) but the withdrawal experience is designed to be painful.
-
This thread has convinced me to avoid Lottoland completely. Are there any other lottery betting sites I should steer clear of?
-
@newbie_casino Generally avoid any lottery betting site that isn't backed by a major UK bookmaker. Stick to National Lottery, or the lottery sections of William Hill, Ladbrokes, Coral etc.
-
UPDATE: The UKGC threat worked! Got an email this morning saying my withdrawal has been approved and should be in my account within 3-5 days.
Absolute joke that it took mentioning the regulator to get them to do what they should have done weeks ago.
-
@lucy_wins Result! Though it's pathetic that you had to threaten them to get your own winnings. This is exactly why their reputation is in the toilet.
-
The economics of complaint escalation is interesting. Let W = withdrawal amount, T = time cost, and S = success probability.
Expected value of escalation = (W × S) - (hourly_wage × T)
For smaller amounts, most people calculate it's not worth the hassle. That's exactly what these operators count on. It's a form of statistical theft - they know X% of people will give up, so they can effectively reduce their payout obligations by X%.
Brilliant business model if you have no soul.
-
Anyone else find it mental that we have to celebrate getting our own money back? This should be the bare minimum, not an achievement worth updating a forum thread about.
Glad you got sorted @lucy_wins but the whole situation is a disgrace.

Just stumbled across this thread - having similar issues with Lottoland over a £145 win from 3 weeks ago. Going to try the UKGC threat approach based on @lucy_wins success story.
