• Can you actually beat blackjack at a UK online casino using basic strategy?

Final thought on this: blackjack with basic strategy is still gambling, not investing. But it's gambling with the lowest possible house edge. Sometimes that's the best we can ask for.

For perfect basic strategy, the probability of busting when hitting depends on your hand total:

    P(bust) = Σ(cards that cause bust) / (cards remaining)

    For a hard 16 against dealer 10:
    P(bust) = 5/13 ≈ 38.46%
Expected value of hitting = -0.5398
Expected value of standing = -0.5419

Hit by 0.0021 - tiny margins matter over thousands of hands!

@mike_bet Interesting! BetMGM wasn't around when I did my original testing. Might have to add them to the list and do a proper comparison. Always good to see new competition raising standards.

Interesting revival of this thread. Think I'm convinced that blackjack is mathematically superior, but @mobile_gambler's point about entertainment value still stands. Might split my sessions - blackjack for steady play, slots for the occasional thrill-seeking.

@bonushunter1 Good point! French roulette with La Partage reduces house edge to 1.35% on even money bets. Still doesn't make progression systems profitable long-term, but definitely better odds.

Thread's gone quiet but had to add my experience. Tried Coral's live casino last month - dealers were chatty, games ran smoothly, withdrew £850 in two days.

Still prefer the real thing for special occasions, but for regular play? Online wins hands down for me.

Best of both worlds: online for convenience, physical casino for the 'event' experience.

@ukgambler99 Blackjack Party is a guilty pleasure of mine too. The dealers actually have personality unlike the stoic robots on most live tables. Just don't get sucked into those side bets too often - they're still house favorites despite the entertainment value.

    @newbie_casino That's actually a perfect summary 😂

Though I'd add: if you're going to play anyway, at least play the best version (French with La Partage) and set strict limits. Entertainment value per pound spent and all that.

Still tracking that D'Alembert system I mentioned - down £180 over 6 weeks now. Science! 🔬

Final thought on this epic debate: maybe we're overthinking it? Both formats are regulated by the UKGC, both use certified random mechanisms, both have the same mathematical house edge.

Pick whichever one makes you happier to lose money on! 😄

Personally, I alternate between them depending on my mood. Sometimes I want the zen-like rhythm of live dealer, sometimes I want the instant gratification of RNG.

@roulette_rob Go for it! Just remember the most important rule - never bet money you can't afford to lose completely. My system might work for me but variance is a cruel mistress. Track everything and report back!

@poker_pete_uk cheers for the mathematical deep dive! This whole thread has been brilliant - exactly the kind of analysis I was hoping for.

Think I'm going to adopt @jackpot_jane's approach and use both strategically. Slots for entertainment sessions, scratch cards for quick controlled gambling when I don't want to risk getting sucked in.

@slots_steve If you want Pragmatic Play heavy, look at sites that specialize in their live tournaments. The competitive element adds another dimension to slots.

But honestly, after reading this thread, I'm more confused than when I started! 😅

This whole thread should be required reading for anyone thinking about bonus buys. Real data, honest reporting of losses, and the reality that even when you KNOW it's -EV, the gambling urge doesn't just disappear.

@bonushunter1 respect for sharing the harsh truth instead of just posting highlights.

@lucy_wins Welcome to the club! That's exactly how they get you. The moment you deviate from optimal strategy, the house edge bites.

@poker_pete_uk Cheers for the update! This thread has saved me thousands.

Final thought: Until the UKGC mandates real-time RTP reporting, we're stuck doing this detective work ourselves. At least we've identified the most honest operators.

Best RTP slots UK punters can actually trust seem to be at LeoVegas, PlayOJO and surprisingly BetMGM.

Three months later and we're still having the same argument. The house edge doesn't care about your postcode, your stake limits, or your philosophical musings about regulatory protection. Play what you enjoy, set limits you can afford, and stop overthinking it.

Fascinating thread everyone. Started this genuinely wanting to know if there were winning strategies I was missing, but I think the answer is both simpler and more complex than I expected.

Simple: mathematically, no, you cannot consistently win at slots long-term.

Complex: what constitutes 'winning' varies hugely between players, and the psychology around gambling is far more nuanced than just 'house edge bad'.

Thinks I'll stick to my £50/month budget and treat it as entertainment rather than investment. At least now I know I'm not missing some secret sauce.

@livedealer_fan Agreed. Had a mate start with £8 yesterday at William Hill - gone in 6 spins on White Rabbit. That's not entertainment, that's just masochism with extra steps.

Plot twist: just tried Betfred's app after writing them off completely. Their new update is actually decent and Dead or Alive 2 runs like a dream. Never thought I'd say this but they might crack my top 5 best slot apps uk list.

The redemption arc nobody saw coming!

@livedealer_fan That's interesting - I haven't noticed anything obvious but then again I've been distracted by that Nolimit City game @tom_slots mentioned.

Seems like this thread has covered most of the major new releases. Consensus seems to be: higher production values, same old mechanics, proceed with caution!

Thread necro but just saw this and couldn't resist. Been playing at PokerStars Casino and 888 Casino for years, tracked everything in spreadsheets like the nerd I am.

Zero correlation between time and results. The only 'best time' is when you're mentally prepared to lose what you're betting, because that's the only guaranteed outcome in the long run. Everything else is just noise and wishful thinking.
